High Representative expresses his condolences over tragic bus accident near Foca on Saturday

The High Representative, Wolfgang Petritsch, learned with much sorrow over the weekend of the tragic accident near Foca on Saturday, January 13, when a bus slipped off the road into a canyon next to the Bistrica River. Nine passengers, among them several children, lost their lives.

The High Representative wishes to express his profound condolences to the families of the nine victims. The High Representative hopes that 18 other passengers, travelling from Sarajevo to Sandzak and who were injured in the crash, make a full recovery.

The High Representative wishes to praise the medical staffs of the Foca Clinical Centre, Sarajevo's Kosevo Hospital and the Medical Faculty in Foca/Srbinje for their quick and highly effective cooperation in treating the injured.

The High Representative would also like to highly commend the German Battle Group, serving with SFOR MND South East, who reacted so quickly to provide emergency aid.
