Ilici incident

OHR, UNMiBH and UNHCR express their deep concern at the incident which took place at Ilici in Municipality South West, during an assessment visit by Bosniacs to their pre war homes. There was a minor explosion at approximately 1000hrs resulting in light injuries to an SFOR soldier and a police officer from Municipality South West. SFOR, IPTF and the local police are investigating the cause of the explosion.

We condemn incidents of this nature, clearly aimed at deterring the return of former residents to their pre war homes.

We agree with Mayor Prskalo that this is an attack on all the citizens of Mostar and urge that the perpetrators be brought to justice as soon as possible.

We cannot tolerate any actions of this nature aimed at preventing the returns process. We are determined to continue our efforts to enable all those people who wish to return to their former homes, to do so in a safe and peaceful manner.
