OHR welcomes Matthias Sonn, new Senior Deputy High Representative

Ambassador Matthias Sonn arrives in Sarajevo today to take up his duties as the new Senior Deputy High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina. He replaces Ambassador Matei Hoffmann, who has returned to Berlin to take up an appointment as ambassador-at-large of the German Foreign Office.

Sonn, a diplomat and lawyer by profession, has over 15 years of experience in the German Foreign Service. Assignments abroad included Port-of-Spain, Washington, Accra and Ankara. His last post was as head of the section for Turkey, Cyprus, Malta, Switzerland and Liechtenstein within the Political Department at the German Foreign Office in Berlin.

Ambassador Sonn will continue his predecessor's work, putting special emphasis on education, Federation issues and common institutions in BiH.
