Permanent Secretariat of the Standing Committee for Military Matters Established

The High Representative, Carlos Westendorp, the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) and SFOR welcome the agreement in the Standing Committee for Military Matters (SCMM) to establish a Permanent Secretariat in line with the requirements of the Madrid Peace Implementation Council meeting of December 1998.

The SCMM formally brought its decision on July 15th, 1999 and the Permanent Secretariat will hold the first meeting in the Marijin Dvor Building on Monday 19th July 1999.

The International Community is delighted that this important decision has been made and will fully support and assist the Permanent Secretariat in their forthcoming work.
